Solution:

(a) Father found that, his brother was died and there was no address of his one and only sister.

(c) Aunt Esther turned pale this is because, she saw the kite patched with the letter which was found by Dick and Mimi in the woods.


10) Change the following sentences into questions, as directed:

 (a) Shankha lives in Alipurduar.(Information question using ‘where’)

Answer: Where does Shankha live?

Reason: Students you might be know about rules Do / Did / Does.

It’s a helping verb. Frequently use to make Interrogative sentence.

If the Main Verb is in Present form ‘Do’ is used; If the Main Verb is in past form ‘Did’ is used; If the Main verb is associate with ‘s’/ ‘es’ – then Does is used.

Here See, Main verb is lives.

That’s mean, associate with ‘s’ (So obviously does is used).

 (b) They have gone to a picnic (Interrogative sentence using ‘where’)

Answer: Where have they gone?

Reason: Auxiliary verb ‘Have’ is already present in the sentence. So no need of Do/ Did/ Does.

(c) I went to school yesterday . (Simple question using ‘did’)

Answer: Did you go to school yesterday?

Reason: Read the sentence.

What is the verb? Its went (And it is in past form)

So, Did is used.

Here subject is I (But in question its you. This is because obviously someone asking question to me, then I am answerd)

(d) Tia studies in class 10 . (Information question using ‘which’)

Answer: In Which class does Tia Study?

You already know How to turn Assertive Sentence to Interrogative Sentence. 


11. Suppose your bicycle has a sudden tyre puncture on your way to school. You have taken the cycle to a repair shop. Write an imaginary dialogue (within 100 words) between the shopkeeper and you. 

Ans:

Me: Hello, will you please listen to me? 

Shopkeeper: Yes, how can I help you? 

Me: The tyre of the front wheel of my bicycle has been punctured on the way. I am in trouble. Me: Will you please repair it? 

Shopkeeper: Yes, that’s my work. Let me see the tyre. 

Me: Thank you. How much will it cost? 

Shopkeeper: It will cost you Rs. 10.

Me: Fine. I am waiting. You may start your repair work.

Shopkeeper: I shall try to mend it right now so that you can attend your school in time. 

Me: Thank you.

12. Write a story (within 100 words) using the given hints. Give a title to the story. 

crow sitting on a tree-piece of meat in its beak – fox passing under the tree – wants the meat – asks the crow to sing – crow keeps meat under its feet and sings – fooled, fox leaves

The Clever Crow and the Fox 

One day a crow found a piece of meat. It sat on the branch of a tree. The piece of meat was in its beak. At that time a fox was passing under the tree. The fox noticed the piece of meat in the crow’s beak. The fox was really greedy. He wanted to get the piece. So the sly fox requested the crow to sing a song. The fox expected that as the crow would start singing the piece of meat would fall from its beak. But the crow had enough wit. It understood the fox’s cunning. So keeping the meat under its feet, the crow started to sing. The crow was able to fool the fox successfully. Disheartened, the fox departed.
